Chapter One [12 Feb 2009|01:10pm]
Chapter One

The sun had started to rise just over the houses within the little gated community called Lakefront Estates, and it seemed to catch a bit of warmth that peered through the slits of the blinds that seemed to filter through into the bedroom.

It was this morning sunshine that seemed to keep the young woman from being able to sleep any longer. She rolled over to look at the clock to see what time it was. Nine fifteen. Well, she slept longer then she expected to at any rate.

Sitting up in bed she stretched out her aches within her lower back when she heard a knock on the door, seeing her grandmother peek her head into the room. “Good Morning Jade... would you like some eggs?“ she asked her.

Jade nodded a little, “If you feel like making them sure, thank you.” She thought for a moment before she looked back at her grandmother, “Jason had to work the early morning shift, didn’t he?”

Her grandmother nodded her head slightly, “He left you a note by your dresser; apparently he isn’t working too late. So with that in mind, would you guys go and get the grocery shopping done today?” she asked.

Without so much as a blink of an eye, she nodded, “Of course Gram. You know Jase and I don’t mind doing that for you.” She assured their grandmother with a tired smile.

Aubrey smiled a bit, “Thanks honey. You know I appreciate it.” as she shut the door she said in a slightly louder voice, “Ill be right back with the eggs…”

Jade shook her head a bit to get rid of the cobwebs in her brain as she got out of bed, running her fingers through her short dark brown tresses.

She was not what you call super thin. She was your average bodied woman. A lot of people used to tell her that she was absolutely beautiful, but she didn’t really believe it 99 percent of the time. Her high cheekbones were flushed with her sleepiness as she yawned, and went over towards the dresser to pick up the note:

Jewel-

Working from 5am-11am today, so I should be home in plenty of time to be able to go shopping with you for Grams. Get enough rest.. but not too much. Or else the Ice water will be used.

Love,
the better looking Hosten ;)

She rolled her eyes at the ice threat. “Oh please..." she muttered as she folded up the note and put it in their special box of notes to each other. "That's my threat on you brat."

Going over to her closet, she spent a few moments staring into the depths of clothing, trying to pick out the simplest of outfits to wear today. Being she was always known for being more eclectic and simplistic all within the same choices. She really didn't care what anyone else had to say about what she wore... for the most part. She finally decided on her favorite pair of jeans and her black tunic shirt that was complete with the light ruffles along the side.

“I probably should get a quick shower, it’d probably help to wake me up just a little…“she mumbled aloud to herself again as she dropped the clothes on the closed toilet seat and prepared herself for her shower. Turning on the hot water, she stepped in, and let the waters warmth penetrate every aching section of her body.
It was days like this she felt the way she was catching up on her age. Especially when she was prone to all the negative energy that seemed to permeate through her life.

After getting out of the shower and getting dressed, she was towel drying her hair as she looked at her computer screen to her laptop; the brilliant dark blue/black wallpaper seemed to catch her eye.

It wasn’t but a few weeks ago that she had been given the advice by her councilor that she had been seeing that keeping a blog -- or some sort of journal would help her with sorting through her emotions when she needed to write down her thoughts. Jason had told her about half their friends out of state and from their old hometown were on this one particular blog site. So with much coercion, he got her to create a journal name of whistlerr -- after her favorite character from Blade Trinity played by Jessica Biel.

Taking a moment, she logged into her personal blog account, and sitting in front of the keyboard for a long moment, she stretched her fingers and began to let them play across the keys as she typed.

Let's see.... what or where should I start with my life and what I’m doing here within this new journal that I’m keeping? There's so much I could start with....

Well, for starters, my name is Jaden Alyssa Hosten. But most people just call me Jade. I'm 26 years old, and i moved from Marian, New York to the sunny state of Florida in the City of Angels Haven. Trust me, living up north with your family then making the change is something that's hard to come by.

Now why do you ask why we made the change? Well let me tell you.....

My mother had lost her job, and our father decided to pack us up and just move everyone, including my grandmother to Florida. The benefit is that we'll be near my older brother Gabriel who is down here. The bad thing is my family and I were giving up all we had up here.

And my family? Well, it consists of my mother Angelica, whose one of the strongest women I’ve known in the world. I also have a wonderful grandmother, named Aubrey Martin. If you’re curious, Aubrey is my mother's mother.

I mentioned about my older brother Gabe: he's four years older then I am -- I also have a twin brother named Jason. These two—are my bodyguards, protectors, and the only part of my family that I really hold close to my heart. They’re super protective over me, and try to keep me out of harms way..

Now, the only other one I haven’t mentioned about is.....

A sudden sound of breaking glass was heard out in the hallway, followed by the sounds of a man screaming and carrying on about things in the living room. Jade tensed up tightly as soon as she heard it, as she bit her lip hard. "Great..." she mumbled to herself, "He's here."

She debated on if she should be going out into the living room. When it came to her father carrying on like he was doing, she knew to stay away. It never failed, because she was his scapegoat. She was always the one who found to be the martyr for him. It was nothing the boys did wrong; the boys were fine in his eyes. But with her, it was another story.

She heard another crash as she got up and crept out of her bedroom, hoping that she was going to avoid the Chernobyl.

"JADEN ALYSSA!"

Shit.

She turned her heel slowly as she saw the fuming face of her father stalking towards her, "Why the hell haven’t you done any sort of yard work for your grandmother?!?!" he screamed as he got up right in her face. "You are so useless and pointless; I don’t know how the hell your grandmother puts up with you!!"

Angelica bit her lip hard as she watched her husband start to wail off on their daughter, and she mouthed to Jaden He had a bad day... She hated to let a lot of this continue, but she knew that when it came to Michael blowing off steam it was better to let it just continue and not push it.

Jade felt a twinge of anger and frustration shoot through her system, "I'm sorry Father, I didn’t realize working 40 hours a week to help grandma get out of the debt we're stuck in at the moment with Jase counted as doing nothing." she said respectfully, but in an incline to sound like she was being defiant.

Michael Hosten glared at his daughter and with a swift motion of his hand; he smacked her HARD across the face. The whole room was in a mere standstill for what appeared to be a brief moment, even with Gabriel who had just walked into the room and witnessed the initial slap.

Without as much as a mere thought flying through his head, Gabriel Peter Hosten reacted out of instinct. Running towards their father, he proceeded on tackling him. The action caused their momentum to roll them both away from where Jade was standing.

Jaden literally fell back, trying to catch her footing just as she saw Gabriel tackling their father and holding him down. He could see the fury blazing in her elder brother’s eyes as she bit her lip hard.

The room was abuzz now with all sorts of people yelling at each other; between Aubrey and Angelica yelling at Gabe to get off Michael, to Gabe and Michael having it out with words on the floor. Jaden stood at the back corner of the room with her hands over her ears, trying her best to block the screaming out of her head. She hated when her family got like this. She absolutely hated it.

Gabe held his father down, trying to force his entire being to not want to slug his father right there, "How many TIMES are you going to pull this same bullshit?!?!" he seethed through his gritted teeth. "I NEVER.....want to ever see you TRY...."

He was stopped short when he felt the slender hands of his baby sister grasping onto his shoulders, and the deadpan voice as she spoke, "Leave it Gabe.....let's just go...?" She pleaded, not wanting to see any more fighting happen in front of anyone right now. She was still feeling the stinging pain of the slap radiating through her now crimson flushed cheek. She wasn’t sure if he'd haul off and punch their father, but she prayed her touch would recoil him and make him get up and they could just leave.

Gabe thought for a long moment before he finally climbed off their father, and got up and put his arm around Jade's shoulders and walked out of the house without so much as a word. He knew that he had to half respect his father, and in a small regretful way he regretted jumping on him.... but when it came to their fathers reaction to Jade, he couldn’t just sit there and let their father beat the hell out of her.

The moment Jade and Jason were born, they were considered precious treasures to Gabe. He became more of their guardian as well as their brother. He loved his baby siblings and teasingly called them treasure names. Jaden was his "Jewel" and Jason was the "The Lure" -- being he had just as a hot temper when it came to protecting Jaden, especially when he could Lure people in with his unique and odd personality. He was also known by Jade and Gabe as "Killer Shark", because if he got too angry, he could be just as lethal as a shark.

As they started to walk away, Jaden thought she almost saw their mother silently chewing Michael out for what he did as she heard Gabe say to their grandmother, “When Jason gets home, tell him to call my cell and meet up with us okay?”

Aubrey nodded and kissed Gabe on the cheek, before lightly touching Jade’s burning face, “Get her out of here for now Gabriel… get her mind off of it.” she whispered quietly.

Gabe nodded silently in understanding to her, and guided Jade out of the house. He put her in the passenger seat of his convertible, before getting in on his own side. Revving up the engine, he began pulling away out of the driveway and down the road.

The two of them sat in silence before Gabe reached over and took a hold of his baby sister’s hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze - reminding her silently that he was right there with her, and he wasn’t going anywhere.

It had been at least a half an hour of them driving around before Gabe’s cell phone rang and he hit his on-star button to answer it, "Hosten...."

"What the hell happened this time?!?!" the muffled voice of Jason came over the speaker phone, "I just drove by the house and grandma told me to call you. What's going on? Is Jade with you? Is she okay? He didn’t touch her did he?"

Gabe sighed, "Killer, calm down okay? You’ll get in an accident. Listen; just meet us at Lake Marsh near the benches. Also, if I find out that you were driving recklessly in that Mustang, I’m taking away the damn keys, ok? I mean it..."

The two of them heard the pissed off sigh that came from their sibling before he dejectedly agreed, "Okay Mr. Pain in my Ass... just be careful with her and I’ll meet you guys down there..."

"All right... later." he pushed the button again to silence the call, then looked back at Jade before putting his eyes back on the road.

Once they got to Lake Marsh, they parked the car and just sat there for a long moment. Jade got out of the car silently first, as she leaned up against it with her arms wrapped around her waist.

Gabe got out as well and moved to go around to meet up with her, but was taken by surprise when he watched her fling herself into his arms, and felt the wetness against his T-shirt.

Her tears.

Sighing quietly, he wrapped his strong arms around her and just held her, letting her cry as she had to. Seeing his baby sister shed any tears over the continuous bull that she had to put up with from her father was enough to make his heart break. There wasn’t much that got to Gabe, but seeing Jaden in any sort of pain, drove him up the wall.

"Jewel...." he muttered in a soothing tone as he ran his fingers through her hair, keeping her as close as he could. His other free hand ran up and down her back in a gentle manner- a little trick he used to use when she was little. "I’m sorry I snapped like that, but I told you... that son of a..." he stopped, knowing he shouldn’t swear and carry on like that, "...jerk tries laying a hand on you...."

"I know..." she said as she sniffled before leaning back to wipe her eyes, her voice teetering between uneasy and okay. She looked up at Gabe as she sighed, "I've been doing good enough to just ignore him, but I can’t take when he's just seeming to be getting progressively worse.... ripping on mom..... blaming ever single thing going wrong here, and I’m just trying to help Jase and Grams get the bills paid because that idiot keeps spending, so mom has to keep borrowing from us to survive...."

Gabe shushed her again as he held her closer, "Listen, I don’t want you to make yourself worry about what stupid things that jackass is doing, and Mom knows I’ll help her as much as I can. But I want you to just try to enjoy and make your life the best it can be, you hear me?" he cupped her face in his fingers, before brushing her eyes to get rid of any spare tears, he found himself smiling gently, "I want my little Jewel to be able to do nothing but sparkle, not grow dull with the weight of the world.."

Jaden couldn’t help but weakly laugh as she bit her lip. Her big brother was the one she always turned to when she needed advice. He told her that no matter what, they could turn to him; even when it came to simple questions all the way down to guy issues. If Jase couldn't help her, they called Gabe. Gabe was their knowledge and protector. "Gabe....." she tried to interject.

He put a finger up, "I mean it! That’s an order." he then poked her chest teasingly, before cupping her chin in his hand, "You know you and Jase mean a lot to me... I love my two treasures."

Jaden smiled weakly through her misty eyes, "I know....and we love you too." She muttered before she wrapped her arms tightly around him and hugged him as tightly as she could. She was burying her face against his chest, drawing on his strength he gave her right then and there.

The moment between older brother and baby sister was cut short however just as the nearby sapphire blue Mustang came to park near Gabe's. Jason came out of the vehicle, jogging over with a look of pure anger and concern; otherwise known to the Hosten siblings as the "Killer Shark Eyes".

"Okay, what the hell happened?" he exclaimed as he went over to Jaden, touching her face to see the red mark still visible there. He then turned to Gabe, "Okay, can I kill the bastard yet?"

Gabe shook his head, trying to give a very light smirk as he ruffled his little brother's hair, "Listen to me you little killer shark, get in your car, and we're heading to Jensen’s. Jewel is deserving of a little splurge treatment by her two bodyguards."

He blinked in surprise at him, before he shook his head to clear his thoughts. "Yeah okay… I'll meet you there." He looked over at Jaden for a quick moment, caressing her good cheek as he said in a low voice, “You up for it Jewel?”

Jaden nodded quietly as she held her brothers hand to her face for that split moment, “Yeah... I’ll see you over there.” she promised Jason, looking at him to reassure him she’d be fine on the ride there.

Nodding, Jason looked up at Gabe for a moment, “The one over on Sunrise?” he asked him, making sure which Jensen’s coffee shop he was referring to.

Already having moved and in the drivers seat, he nodded to his baby brother, “That very same one. So hurry up and get your butt in the car and we’ll see you over there.”

Unable to hide a smile forming on his lips he started to jog back to his car, as Jaden got into the passenger seat of Gabe's vehicle. “Yeah yeah I’m going! I’m going!” he yelled as he hopped over the door into the drivers seat, just as the two cars pulled away.

Chapter Two [12 Feb 2009|01:05pm]
Jensen’s coffee shop was quite busy for that particular afternoon. More then likely it was the local college kids getting out of their classes for their afternoon fixes.

Jade noticed that it was probably one of the many corporations that had to be doing really well for having such a monopoly in today's society. However the fact she was semi anti-corporations....she couldn’t fault the fact that she was in love with the flavor of their iced mint-mocha when she really needed one.

Gabe looked over at his two younger siblings as he worked into his back pocket to find his wallet. "Stay here with Jewel here Killer, I’m going to go get what she wants." He then turned to Jade as he lightly tapped her under chin, "The usual, right?" he asked as he flashed her one of his million dollar grins.

Jade nodded slightly, her one side of her face still stung with the severity of how hard their father had smacked her. "Please." She leaned against Jason a little for support as she looked up at their older brother before cracking a minor smile, "Gabe…? Thank you.”

"Hey, what's a big brother for huh?" he said to her as he ruffled her hair. "Okay, a mint mocha for the Jewel, Vanilla Crème for the Killer Shark, and Caramel Mocha for me." Pulling out a twenty dollar bill, he got into position in line to get her drink.

After a long moment, Jade froze in place just as she felt her heart begin to seize up in a slight panic attack. Cursing in her head, she grasped at her twin brothers hand almost too tightly.

She hated when her body started to go into panic attack mode. She tried her best to breathe slowly in attempt to ease the pain shooting through her body.

Jason stopped for a split second when he felt Jade squeeze his hand a little too tightly, he felt a wave of unease shoot through his body like electricity. Turning his head quickly to look into his sisters eyes, he knew. "Gabe! P.A -- taking her outside!" he called over towards the line of customers waiting for their drinks.

When he got the reassured nod out of his brother, he carefully supported Jade as he helped her out into the cooler afternoon air. Outside, he helped her lean up against the car.

Moving himself in between his sister’s legs, he took her chin in his fingers. "Jade, what are you feeling...?" he asked in a gentle soothing tone. He knew what to do when she's had these panic attacks; being he had seen her through enough of them.

She shook her head, before trying to give him her weak half smile, "I’m fine Jase... I’m just really sensitive after getting worked up thanks to the sperm donor..." She felt the tears form in her eyes as she turned her head a little bit. When the twins said the phrase "Sperm donor" -- they were referring to their father.

He shook his head slightly, as he held his other half’s face within the palms of his strong but gentle hands, “I ain’t buying it Jewel.. I feel it in you. I know you didn’t sleep at all…what happened?”

Jade bit her lip hard. She thought she had been quiet as to not wake anyone up at the house; but she should have known better. Jason and Jade shared what they called in a no-end term as "Wifi"-- meaning with the fact that they just knew each other so well, it was if they shared the same brain, and transferred thoughts from one to another.

She really didn’t want to be the one to talk about the other issue now-- especially after what had happened. This was an entirely different matter that really didn’t concern either him or Gabe. But she knew that if she didn't tell him, he’d get it out of her one way or another. “Jessandra IM’d me last night…”

“Tony’s sister? What’d she have to say?” he asked with a high hint of surprise echoing in the tone of his voice. He hadn't heard that name in a good couple of months, so it sparked a high amount of curiosity.

Jaden bit down hard on her lip to the point where she was close to drawing blood. Tony was the nickname for their close friend, Anthony Marcus. Anthony and Hannah Bonnewell had grown close to the two of them for years; even to the point where Jaden and Tony were in item for a little while.

It wasn’t until right around the end of September, did they hear from Hannah Bonnewell that Tony had died on a train wreck, heading back out to Los Angeles to visit his family.

It was a major turning point that threw Jade’s life into a tailspin. Not only was she under the constant stress and pressure from keeping her guard up from the constant abuse of their father- but she also was fighting the emotions from suffering through her mourning over their friends death.

However it wasn’t until just last night… did she know the honest truth to the mysterious silence from Hannah and Tony for the last few months then on.

Jason knew the thoughts were going through her eyes as he tried to gently coax the information out of her, “Jade… what did Jess have to say?” he asked again, this time in a little more firmer tone of voice.

Turning her head to face her brother, she stared into his eyes before she mumbled, “Hannah is now seven months pregnant… with Tony’s child.”

If anyone was trying to read all the emotions running through the mind and across the face of Jason Hosten at that particular moment; it would have been extremely difficult.

It was taking him a few extra good seconds to register what he had just been told. That sorry son of a bitch cheated on his twin sister with that slut? After everything the two of them did for them both... this is how they repaid the Jewel's treasured friendship?

Jaden noticed his eyes darken for a split second- the "Killer Shark" gaze hazing over into her twin brothers facial features. Without a word she squeezed his hand tightly, almost painfully. This was her way to slowly bring him back out of thinking that dark. Jason's temper always did like to get the better of him, and the only one who was ever able to really get him out of that dark place was his twin. If he was the darkness, she was the light side.

Feeling the grip of Jade's fingers entwined with his, he looked back into her eyes as they sat across from each other. Feeling the pure anger that was roiling start to fade, he lifted up his hands to cradle her face within them.

Rubbing her jaw line with his thumbs, he gazed into those eyes, his voice finally finding its way out of his mouth, "Hey... He isn’t worth worrying about. Don’t even dare give that bastard a second thought again…" he weakly smiled as he let his left thumb brush away a stray tear. "Even though I know how much you want to throttle him."

Giving his sister a partial grin he poked at her stomach causing her to squeak a little in surprise, "Save that for me to do when I pay him a visit in hell." he said in his typical Sean Connery accent that they nicknamed as his "Monk" accent.

After getting a partial laugh out of her, he leaned his forehead against hers, his eyes half closed before he whispered, "I don’t like seeing our Jewel so dull; especially not over a douche like him. He'll pay for making the other half of me so upset like this."

Jade couldn't help but feel some part of the pain that resonated through her chest begin to ease. Jason just seemed to have that way about him... or perhaps it was just the bond they shared? She never truly knew.

Their bond was a unique one at that. They really truly did share each others pain and joy; more so then any other twins had. She couldn't count the amount of times when she'd be limping for no reason, only to find out that he'd twisted his ankle; or when she put a rather good bruise on her arm, he would rub his arm for weeks till hers healed.

Resting her slender fingers against his chest, she splayed them out as she whispered a stanza that would have made absolutely no sense, "Pain go away, plague within my other heart need not resonate..."

He chuckled under his breath as he allowed his free fingers to continue wipe the tears out from her eyes, "I think you've been watching Serenity a little too much again little albatross." he muttered as he closed his eyes, feeling her own fingers brush a tear away from his face that seemed to slide out his cheek without his knowledge.

"Two parts of a same River... with Gabby Gabe for a Simon-protector..." she spoke up as she looked at Jason with tear filled eyes, a tiny smile beginning to curl on her lips before she leaned her head on his shoulder. "...but you're more my Simon."

Jason felt his heart-strings pull as he instantly wrapped his arms around Jade without another word or silent thought. Running his fingers through her hair, he felt his shirt grow a little damp from the silent tears that began to seep through. Squeezing her body as he held her tight, he let the last two tears fall from his own eyes as the two drew upon each others strength for the few moments they had.

Gabe opened the door to head back outside just in enough time to see his baby brother and sister ease up from their hug. Deciding that they needed a break of the tension he headed over in their direction, passing their drinks out as needed. "So what are you two little troublemakers trying to plot against me now?" he asked with a teasing grin as he propped himself up against the car, taking a sip of his double whip caramel mocha.

Jason grinned as he tried to give the look of innocence, "Oh us? you must have us confused with two other twins Gabe...." he lied as he sipped at his own drink.

Gabe then rolled his own eyes before he leaned over to ruffle Jade’s hair, "Your choice Jewel, what do you want to do before we head back?"

Jaden thought about it for a long moment, before she looked up at them, "Can we go down near the beach? I wouldn’t mind walking along the water with you guys... Kind of like we used to when we were younger….”

Jason shrugged, "I’m game, but its up to the chauffer if he's up to driving your highness around." he said in his accent, his grin starting to form.

Gabe laughed, "Whatever Jewel wants Jewel gets remember Killer? C’mon, get your ass in the car and lets go."

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

As soon as they were down at the beachside, Gabe and Jason walked together to talk for a little bit while Jaden walked on ahead, using Gabe’s camera he always kept in the glove box to take random photos of different things down at the shore.

“Did it last that long?” Gabe asked Jason after a long moment of silence as they watched Jade kneel down farther ahead to pick up a seashell she found, turning it over in her fingers.

Jason looked over at their older brother for a moment, wondering what he was referring to before he finally caught on, “Her panic attack? Nah…” he looked over to the side as he flexed his fist unconsciously, his eyes darkening again just as he started thinking about everything Jade told him again.

Gabe easily picked up on this and looked over at Jason for a minute before giving him a light love tap to the backside the head to snap him out of it. “Killer, what’s going on with you?” he asked, knowing that not only did he have to keep track of his baby sister, but his baby brother was known for getting himself into trouble; Especially when it had to do with Jade. He knew his Killer Eyes-- and knew what it meant when they showed.

Jason’s head shot up real quick before he looked at Gabe and took a deep breath, just to try and calm his nerves. “Jade told me Marcus’ sister got in touch with her to tell her the truth to why those two had disappeared off our radar…”

This really intrigued Gabe now, “Oh really now? What was going on with all that?” In all honesty, he really was curious. It had seemed like for a while that Tony really was interested in their little sister, and he was actually close to giving his blessing to that relationship. But to have him suddenly fall off the radar before his untimely death just seemed a little too… odd for him.

Jason wasn’t sure if he should say something about it, but he took the shot, since he knew Gabe needed to be made aware, “…Hannah’s seven months pregnant with Tony’s kid.” he said in an even straight-edged voice.

The same type of emotions that had gone through Jason’s face went through Gabriel’s at the same type of rendition. Ending with the anger flashing through his eyes, he mumbled in pure anger under his breath, “Ba Xiu... That bitch...” he hissed, referring to Hannah.

“Don’t you mean that fucking bastard.” Jason chimed in, referring to Marcus. He sighed, running his fingers through his tousled hair, “I don’t know Gabe, I swear to … something that if I see that bastard in hell, I’ll make it the worst one he ever imagined for.” he muttered painfully to his older brother.

Gabe nodded in agreement; at least the two of them shared the very same attitude when it came to Jaden. They were both fiercely loyal and utterly protective.

However, being Gabe had the experience over his baby brat of a brother, he had to continue. “But... You have to respect his sister for at least coming clean about it. Hopefully this will be something else that will help her get over that prick…”

Jason thought about it for a moment, and he had to agree with him. “You tend to think so much more grown-up then I do at times.” he said as he gave his older brother his childish, devilish grin.

Gabe grinned a bit and grabbed Jason from around his neck and roughly rubbed his top of the head, “That’s because I am older then you Killer…” he said with a joking frustration before he finally let him go.

Jason let out a noise that sounded almost like an ack before he quickly moved from Gabe's attempt to grab him as he laughed, before putting his wacky accent back into his voice for a moment, "You cant hurt me... I'm not real."

Gabe had to roll his eyes a little, "All right monkey, save it for her all right?" he groaned with a shake of his head.

He cast his eyes over towards Jaden as he heard what almost sounded like a light laugh coming from the direction of their Jewel. His voice taking another serious tone, he put the conversation back in a serious note. “I want you to keep your eye on her Jase. I didn't think the Sperm Donor was going to start pulling that shit at the house now too...”

Jason gave his older brother a look before he himself gave his brother a nice "love tap" to the back of his head, “You know I always will Gabe…I just…” he then stopped when he saw Jaden coming over towards them as he changed his serious look to a grin. “What’s up Jewel?”

Jaden grinned a bit as she held up the camera and snuck in between the two of them as she held the camera out in front of them, “Say Shiny!” she declared.

The two boys shared a look with each other before they smiled. Gabe put on his goofy grin type face while Jason gave his sister Bunny ears from behind as the flash went off.

*~*~*~*~*~*

The siblings spent the entire afternoon into the evening, until they got a phone call from their grandmother that it was safe for the twins to come home.

Once they pulled into the driveway, Gabe got out of the Eclipse as the twins got out of the Mustang. He went over to them and stood in front of Jaden for a moment.

Gazing down at her, he said in a gentle, but commanding tone, “If he tries this shit again… you call me all right?”

Jaden stood next to Jason as she nodded up at her older brother, “…thanks again Gabe…for getting me out of the house.”

Gabe smiled as he leaned forward, and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead, “I love you Jewel.” he looked at Jason before the two of them did their secret handshake, “Take it easy tonight Killer, OK? No necessary killing”

Jason nodded as he then moved over to half hug his older brother, “You got it, drive safe home all right?”

Gabe got into his car again before flashing his million dollar grin, “You know it.. Behave you two!” he called out as he drove away.

Watching their brother drive off down the road, Jason wrapped his arm around his twin sisters shoulder as he said in a quiet voice, “C’mon Jewel... lets go inside.”

Jaden looked up at him with a nod, as she allowed him to lead her back into their house.

Chapter Three [12 Feb 2009|12:55pm]

Sometimes I wonder what I'm going to do to keep my mind focused and going strong........

It’s so hard to keep smiling when I’m trying to work as many hours as I am, and trying to keep our house going with Grandma and Jase. I just don’t understand...

We just barely get by and keep ourselves above water financially. The main reason why is because we've been trying to help mom out. She just can’t seem to get through things that were happening; that the Sperm Donor is the reason that they’ve been unable to make their bills…

Speaking of the Sperm Donor; he came over today. And he slapped me hard across the face, just because I was being disrespectful. I honestly didn’t think I was, but he didn’t want to hear the truth. So again… the scapegoat is the one who ends up getting nailed because he fails.

Granted, I was eternally grateful for Gabe and Jason taking me out to try and get my mind off of everything that transpired today. And I have to admit for a moment there it was working just a little.

I really don’t know what I would do without my brothers… I’m just saying.

I still find myself cursing the fact that I even let myself worry so much about the situation with Tony. I mean, I should have realized that something like this was going to happen. It’s just enough to put a blow to a girl’s ego without even thinking about it…

I guess it’s good that I chose the journal name Whistlerr. I really loved Abigail’s name. I always associated it with strength and willpower

Though I never really wanted to believe Jase..I guess perhaps deep down I have that somewhere. (and no its not because he wanted me to be the Abby to his Hannibal King—though that actually suits him. ;p) I know that our faith in God (meaning what my brothers and I try to hold onto) is a part of it, but sometimes I wonder where this strength I have comes from, especially when all it seems is like I’m getting stepped on by idiots and trashed by the sperm donor…

She stopped writing in her journal as she rubbed her face. She looked at the time to see what time it was. 12:59 am. She couldn’t sleep at all, not after what had happened earlier that day. She hadn’t even taken her pills yet.

Climbing out of her bed, the sounds of the random you tube video she had coming over her laptop she crept into the bathroom to go grab all her different pills. As she popped them in her mouth, she swallowed them with a swig of her raspberry lemonade flavored water.

She stood there, staring at herself in the mirror of her bathroom for a long moment, before she splashed her face with some cold water and patted it with a towel. She noticed that the reflection staring right back at her was looking more haggard then before she let out a tiny sigh. "I don’t know about you Jade...." she muttered aloud to herself, keeping mindful of her grandmother and her twin brother sleeping elsewhere in the house.

No sooner did she mutter to herself, did she feel and see a pair of arms wrapping around her waist firmly and watched as a messy brunette head falling gently against her shoulder. Feeling the weight rest lightly, she shook her head a little as she felt her lips twitch in a smile.

"Sorry if I woke you." she muttered in her British accent to the figure behind her as she leaned her head back, and rested it lightly on his shoulder.

Jason smiled only just a little as he ran his fingers through her hair as he mumbled lightly against her neck as he breathed in the scent of her perfume. Love spell by Victoria Secret, it seemed to be her favorite as of late.

"Nah, you didn’t wake me." he assured her as he then propped his chin up on her shoulder, staring at her as they both looked into the mirror, "So....are you trying to put off sleeping so you can avoid the asshole and life all in one shot?" he teased, his voice taking that monkish tone as he smirked lightly, trying in a vain attempt to get his twin to grin a little as he poked her side.

"How did you guess?" she mumbled back in a teasing yet mild sarcastic tone as she found herself unable but to smile just a little bit as she let one arm slip around behind her twin brother's waist, just as the other arm came up over and around them so she could tousle his hair just a little bit.

Jade was incredibly thankful that she had been blessed to have such an amazing twin brother as Jason in her life. Where he was the life of the party, she was the one who pulled people in with her smile and warm caring personality. When he was angry and ready to kill, she eased the pain to make things bearable.

This however, caused a major problem with their family as they started to grow up. Because she was the only girl, she got all the abuse. Even when they grew up in Marian and would go spend time with their friends, she was the only one who would get screamed at.
A typical Friday night would be their father screaming at her in the living room with Jason interjecting as he came to save the day. It would end the day as well with the two of them curled up together in their room, Jade silently crying in her pillow while Jason sat up with her, silently stroking her hair.

Jade looked in the mirror and turned her cheek for a moment, observing the redness that was still there a little. "Bastard hit me harder this time..." she mumbled as she sighed, "Broke grandma's one glass too when he slammed the cabinet door."

She looked down at the sink for a moment, before leaning back and rested her head against Jason's shoulder again. Turning her face to rest against his neck, she let out a shuddering breath as she tried to relinquish the negative thoughts and draw on Jason's strength, "I don’t know Jase.. I'm just getting so tired of this bullshit..."

Feeling his brow furrow, he let his lips rest lightly against her left temple as he took in a deep breath. "I know Jewel...I know." he whispered in comfort. "Trust me, I am too..."

He stood up a little straighter as he reached down and grasped her hand. C’mon..." he mumbled to her as he pulled her gently towards her bedroom.

It wasn’t uncommon that the two of them sometimes shared a bed; especially since they both owned decent queen size ones at that. They used to do it all the time when they were children, because they felt more comfortable with each other then anyone else.

It was one of those many quirks that was unique to them. They learned from a young age that when hardships took over their family, they drew on each other for strength. When their grandfather Ernest passed away years ago, the two of them shared the same bed for almost a year.

Jase allowed himself to flop almost unceremoniously on top of Jade’s bed with a grunt before he gently tugged her into the bed with him. Feeling her weight fall against his chest, his body instantly tightened his hold on her. "Ow..." he said with a grin, not meaning that she hurt him -- just wanting to give her a hard time.

It was funny how sometimes he instinctively treated her as if she was a fragile vase that if he let go of it, would shatter into a million pieces. He wasn’t about to let that happen to his other half. No way in hell.

Jaden gasped mockingly with a poke to his side, getting him to squirm before she allowed herself to lean completely into the strong warmth that he offered to her.

Taking a few deep breaths, she inhaled an all too familiar smell she grew so accustomed to him wearing. "You're wearing Calvin Klein again aren’t you..." she mumbled a little as she buried her head more against his chest, her dark tresses covering her face from his own.

Jason always knew the right way to try and take her mind off the deeper darker pains that she was dealing with. “I wish you didn’t have to go out of town for a few days for work, couldn’t they find someone else to go for the new store opening?” she muttered unhappily as she moved her head to stare up at the ceiling fan while she shifted her body to lay on her side of the bed.

He smirked a little as he leaned over on his elbow, before gently stroking her hair, whispering in a gentle voice, "Yeah....yeah I am.” he told her before he sighed.

He didn't really want to be away from her too far for too long either, but what choice did they have? They both knew the aspects of the new jobs they took. “Hey… you know as well as I do that they need all the help they can get.”

Jade groaned inwardly as she ran her fingers through her hair roughly in frustration. “I know…” she grumbled as she turned her head to look over into his eyes. “But it still doesn't mean that I have to like it...It just isn’t the same not having you there to back me up, you know?”

He leaned his head over and kissed the top of her head a little before letting his fingers gently caress her hair in his soothing manner, “I know Jewel.. Believe me I wish I could stay too.“ he told her then he thought of something to tell her, “…Would you believe that they're letting me do that script?"

Jade’s body sat up immediately on her side of the bed before she turned to face her twin brother; her eyes wide in shock. “No way… when and how the hell did this happen?“

Jason chuckled as he reached over and pulled her back down on the bed to rest. “If you’d give me a minute, I’ll explain it…” he said with a grin before he continued. He wrapped his arms around her stomach for a moment, waiting for her to settle down again.

“Apparently a friend of mine at the college that works with Mr. Schubert snuck a copy of it on his desk. He read through it and apparently LOVED it. He pulled me in the office and asked if I would be fine with filming it for the college station, and direct it as well."

She laid there listening to him for a moment, listening to everything he had to say. “Which friend was this again?” she asked him as she readjusted her body so they were facing each other. She was indeed very curious to find out which of his friends had been the one to get him to start doing one of the few things he enjoyed doing the most.

Jason turned back on his back before he looked up at the ceiling as he replied, “Jonathan Bannister; One great camera man... and one damn talented musician if I do say so myself. I’ve watched that guy play the bass, the guitar and the piano. He could probably pick up any musical instrument and be able to play it almost flawlessly.”

Jade grinned as she listened to Jason before she leaned down to kiss his shoulder blade "Well congratulations on it. See? I knew you were talented enough." she praised him.

Jason gave her the raised eyebrow before he started doing his low growl of argument; his way of teasingly arguing with his sister when he knew that she was right.

Jade rolled her eyes a little before lightly poking his shoulder. “All right McCranky… you know I’m right so don’t even start.”

He smirked a little as his eyes began to gleam in an evil sort of way, “Oh reaaaalllly?” he crooned before he began on his incessant tickle fest upon his sister. THIS was something that he always reveled in. Jade was SO ticklish, and she made this really funny “Snyarf” noise amidst the sound of a wounded puppy.

The two of them sat in a long silence after the tickle fest for a few seconds before Jade spoke quietly from the shadows of the room. “You know I’m glad you started writing again…” she told him honestly as she felt the tiniest of smiles creep across her lips. “Maybe now we can get back into your plans for World Domination…”

Jason looked down at her a little, before he felt a gentle smile curl on the edge of his lips as he ran his thumb and forefinger down the side of her slender jaw line, “Just try to sleep Jewel..." he then slipped into their voice again before he grinned deviously, "There will be time for that... trust me."

He then reverted back to his normal tone. "Besides... I'm not going anywhere tonight." he assured her before he accentuated that statement with a gentle kiss to the top of her head, reminding his twin sister that she was safe in his arms.

Jade did feel so exhausted. She hadn’t known what exhaustion was until after she had cried so many tears from their father, on top of the information overload regarding Tony and his disappearance. Her eyes began to drift closed as she mumbled a little incoherently. "Love you...know that brat...?"

Jason watched as she started to fall into a deep enough sleep that she wouldn't wake up from as he kissed the top of her head one more time, "I know dork....and I promise you, that I love you more then that." he whispered to her, before he closed his own eyes, his own frustration and exhaustion was able to take him off to slumber land, calmed by the mere fact that he protectively held Jade in his embrace.

Chapter Four [12 Feb 2009|12:40pm]

Even though only a few days had passed... to Jaden it felt like eons. She hated being alone. It was never her strong point to deal with her father without her brother’s close by.

Jason was away for a major store opening, so he wasn't allowed to call hardly at all. Gabe on the other hand went to Michigan with his new girlfriend for a vacation, so she knew he was going to be indisposed for a while.

Granted, they both were text messaging her every moment of the day, but it still wasn’t the same. She felt naked; exposed. Its not like she wasn't used to it despite how much pain she felt.

She really was one of those good suffer in silence types. She knew how to hide the pain from her lips and her face; But not always from her eyes. Anyone who knew Jade at all said her eyes were her definite gateway into her emotions and soul. One look and it always told you everything.

But she never would talk about it, or rather…she couldn’t. She was always finding it difficult to bring up her issues to anyone but her brothers. This to a degree labeled her strange to most; So much the better. No one really understood at how she looked at life; with more creativity and open possibilities then most.

It was harder in Angels Haven, and she felt that inner torture even more so. If she had to put a comparison to how she felt... think Rogue from X-men. It was as if she reached out to touch something, it would either retreat from her, or she would end up killing it by just touching it.

The only thing she knew was a safe pair of arms around her and even now she didn't have that. Especially over the situation that happened with Tony. She had dealt with her grief of loosing him, from his death. Granted she knew she didn’t have to curse him in the afterlife. If her brothers had anything to say about it, they’d do it for her.

She snapped out of her solitary reverie to hear her cell phone ringing. Confused at to who was calling her this late in the day, she glanced at her caller ID. Smiling a little at seeing the name flashing across, she flipped it open and put the phone to her lips. “Well I’ll be darn, I thought you were working tonight Sash.”

The voice on the other end let out a cute half laugh/half noise, “Hah! You wish Jade. I skipped out just so that I could call and bother you.” she said with what sounded like a triumphant grin.

Jade couldn’t help but shake her head in half amusement, half disbelief. Doing that sounded like something Sasha Roberts would do.

Sasha was a very close friend to both Jaden and Jason when they lived back in Marian. She wasn’t as she appeared. When you first laid eyes on her, she seemed like she was a real quiet, well reserved individual. However, you put her in the presence of the Hosten twins.. it could go either one of two ways. She either would be someone you completely loved, or who loved to torture you.

Jaden sat back a little as she cradled the phone with her hand, “So what do I owe the pleasure of this phone call? I wonder…Let me guess, did you finally hear from Jet?”

“Close! That was one of the reasons why I wanted to call you.” she said as her voice grew a little serious with a hint of concern, “I was actually calling to make sure that you were doing all right.”

She shook her head with a chuckle. Jet was a senior in Marian that she was "friends with". But, the twins knew that she liked him more then that. It was a never ending roller coaster ride with Sasha on that particular situation, and Jade knew the ride was far from over.

She heard a beeping of another phone call, but ignored it. She knew that this was one of the few times she probably got the chance to talk with Sasha, so she would take advantage of it.

She couldn't help but chuckle at Sasha's enthusiasm, before what she said at the end caused her to start thinking. She then put two and two together. “Jason sent you a text message didn’t he.”

“Weeelllll.... not really. I kind of sort of pestered him text-wise until he cracked and got him to tell me all the juicy details of what happened." she let out a breath that sounded like a satisfied laugh, "He knows not to cross me, he owes me too much."

Sasha then changed the topic, the anxiousness within her voice was easily heard as she started complaining, “You two really need to either come back home for a visit, or get me out there to the sunny state of Florida to come visit you two. Its so boring without you guys here in Marian anymore!”

Jade couldn’t help but feel a small smile curl onto her lips as she shook her head a little, “You know we miss you too sweetie, and maybe one of these days we’ll…” she stopped when she felt the vibration on her phone. Turning it away for a moment she looked to see she had a missed call and a voice mail waiting.

Knowing she would probably need to see who it was, incase it was Jason or Gabe. Looking at the caller ID, she groaned. “oh Chautauqua…” she mumbled.

Sasha instantly picked up on this, “Let me guess, was it the asshole? Can I strangle him? De-manhood him so that he’ll stop being a pompous prick?”

“Your offer is indeed tempting Sasha… but sadly I think my mother would miss it… maybe.” she then shuddered a little at the thought. “Oh God, why did I even think about that just now? I’m going to be scarred for life….” she groaned.

“I was just going to say, don’t make me slap the sense back into you Jaden Alyssa…” she heard Sasha say to her over the earpiece before another beep came over, “Oh shit -- that’s probably Jet, I should go. But DON’T YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT GETTING DEPRESSED TILL I CALL YOU BACK AGAIN JADEN.” she squeaked out the threat. “Just take it easy and ill forewarn Jason that the asshole needs to be relieved of his manhood.”

Jaden smiled a little sadly but nodded with a quiet laugh, “I’ll try not to think about it so much, and I’ll talk to you later hon. Take care. Miss you.”

“Miss you too! See ya!”

“Bye…” she hit the ‘End’ button on that phone call and stared at it for a long moment before she finally got the courage to dial into her voice mail.

It was after that she wished she hadn’t.

Michael was inaudible over the screaming, cussing and bad language that he was using on the phone to the point where Jaden had to just click the phone completely closed, pushing the tears that threatened to come at bay back.

Just as she was about to put her head in her hands to hide the silent sobs that pushed their way forward, she heard a voice that spoke right up above her head, “I don't mean to bother you... but you wouldn't happen to know a Jason Hosten would you?”

She looked up to see someone standing near her table, gazing a little at her with his head tilted to the side. By all means the guy wasn't a body builder, but he was in the definite bracket of the “tall Dark and handsome” types. He had short black hair and dark eyes that for most girls, would be incredibly easy to get lost in if you stared within them.

Tilting her head in the same general direction, she gave as much of a good natured smile as she could muster as she said back in return, “Actually yes…he’s my twin brother.”

He snapped his fingers right after she said that, as if he was hit with a rather enormous epiphany. “So then you must be Jaden! I thought you seemed familiar. You have a somewhat similar presence about you like Jase does.”

Her ears perked up at that, and she decided to possibly throw a name out there of someone that Jason always talked about at home from school. “You must be…Johnny Bannister.” she said, not wanting to accidentally get him mixed up with someone else. “The avid musician who got my brothers script the chance to be used. Which thank you for that by the way... he isn't the same unless he's allowing his creative side take full control."

Johnny grinned a little sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his head, “Guilty as charged…” he then looked at her again, in a way staring into her eyes just a little bit, “…You all right?” he asked her as he slid into the empty chair across from her, somehow his eyes still transfixed against her dark hazel orbs.

Noticing his staring and trying to act as non-chalant as she possibly could ”Yeah...I’m all right…” she lied as she tucked a few strands of hair that began to fall in her eyes.

He shook his head with a half smile as he leaned in slightly, “You can't fool me Jade, your brother told me all about you.” he pointed with his finger to the side of her right eye, “And he was right, you may hide it, but those eyes of yours kind of speak for themselves.”

This kind of threw her for a loop. It figures that her twin brother would blab about her to someone… or was she just that easy to read sometimes?

She looked away as she wrapped her arms around herself-- her instant "body armor" as she leaned back, “I Guess I just…miss them is all.” she almost whispered under her breath as she rubbed her left arm; as if the temperature had dropped 15 degrees in a matter of minutes.

He leaned back slightly as he looked at her with his eyes showing that he was paying an in depth attention to what she was saying, “Gabe and Jason?” he asked, making sure that he got it right. He had heard stories from Jason about how nasty their father could be. How the one person who took the brunt of all the negativity from the man, was the young woman sitting in front of him now.

She nodded slightly, before taking out her cell phone and accessing her voice mail, “Especially when this went to my phone when I was talking with a friend today…” she said as she let it play for Johnny to hear.

He took the phone out of the girls hand and listened to the man screaming obscenities in his ear about how much of a waste of life the girl sitting across from him was. Somehow though, he didn't believe it. Not from the stories Jason gushed over the talent of his twin.

He had seen how angry his best friend would get when Jason talked about their father. How could this guy even call himself a man when he treats his own flesh and blood as if they were dirt? He handed the phone back to her, his eyes held the look of pure anger and a mix of regret for her.

She smiled weakly and sarcastically as she shut her phone closed. “Nice huh…” she said as she pocketed it away. “So getting that hasn’t exactly made my night any easier when the two of them are out of the state at the moment…So yeah. I guess you can say I kind of miss them.”

Johnny seemed to nod a little as he listened to every word she said, “That’s totally understandable Jade…” he said quietly before he looked at the time, then back at her, “You got some time to kill?” he asked her out of the blue.

She blinked a little as he asked her that, “Well…I’m not planning on going home any particular time soon so I guess you can say yeah…I do have some time to kill. Why do you ask?”

He smiled a little and stood up, “I figured we could go for a bit of a walk, just to cool off some emotions if need be. You up for it?”

She thought about it for a long moment. The guy was a good friend of Jason’s…and if he was a good friend to Jase he wouldn't really think of trying to do anything to her. Putting down the few dollars for her snack she had purchased, she stood up along with him. “Sure, why not?” she said as she put her purse over her shoulder.

Johnny smiled as he held his arm out for her, as they exited the restaurant together.

Chapter Five [04 Feb 2009|12:42pm]
The night was a nice cool night as she was walking the length of the lake with Bannister. Talking to him in a small way, was like talking to a very weak version of Jason. Perhaps it was because the two of them were best friends in a sense. Jaden wasn't too sure. All she did know was the fact that there was someone she could somewhat trust around her. Not to mention someone she could share the random tidbits of information about Jason to who would also get a good laugh.

She watched as Johnny doubled over in laughter, shaking his head as the two of them stopped to lean against a park bench. "No way! You've got to be kidding... he ACTUALLY did that?"

Unable to keep the grin from her features, she nodded, "It was more to save my arse, but he did it... i tell you one thing, it will probably be one of the ONLY times that Jason will ever be caught wearing a wig and my clothes.. he told Gabe that the bra was uncomfortable as well."

Johnny burst out into laughter again, as he rubbed his chin in a little bit of thought. "That gives me a good prank to pull on him sometime if he feels the need to blackmail me..." he said with a goofy yet devious grin on his features.

Looking over at Jaden, his grin softened into more of a smile, and shook his head. "Jason was right... you look so much prettier when you are smiling. Your eyes light up and it brightens up your features... just like a Jewel would shine."

Jaden at that particular point felt her cheeks flush into a brilliant bright red hue. "The brat would say that..." she muttered as she felt a tiny smile curl on her lips. “He was always partial since he's my brother..." she let her eyes gaze down on the concrete, so she wouldn’t have to look Bannister in the eyes.

Johnny smiled a little as he tipped her chin up so she would look right at him, "Jade... it’s not like that. Your brother was speaking the truth. You are beautiful; whether you believe it or not." he then grinned, and putting that little 'accent' into his voice, he said in a teasing manner "I always have to tell your brother he is just sexy, but he doesn't believe me either.."

She felt a laugh push back from her lips in a cute little out breath as she felt her lips curl back again into a grin. "I guess...."

He shook his head as he smiled at her, "I don’t guess.. I know." He then looked at his watch. The time had caught up to them, and it was late. "The time does chime the tenth hour, where others fear to stay awake..." he muttered a little under his breath.

She looked over at him, as she finished his sentence, "Rest your heads young children.. for your slumber is for your sake." She looked at him with a look of shock, "You saw my poems I wrote?" she stopped as she put a hand up as she her mind went through all the possible scenarios, "Wait, let me guess; Jase's kept a record of them and showed you on the blog hasn’t he?"

He smiled as he ran his fingers through his jet black hair a little nervously, "I couldn't help it... you just simply have a way with words Jade. And Jase knows it too. That's why he loves showing off what you say. It just... seems to come to life. As if you know things..."

She felt a blush start to form on her cheeks again as she was reaching for her purse to get her keys. "One who wishes to pull the words fresh out of the minds of fools need not be considered a wise man..." she said with a chuckle.

Being that she was having so much fun, she wasn’t paying her phone any attention when the generic ring tone sounded between them. Reaching for it, she flipped it open without checking the caller ID. "Hello?"

As if something hot that just burned her ear, she quickly pulled the phone away as the muffled sounds of bellowed screams resonated from the ear piece of her phone. Biting her lip, she gave Johnny an apologetic look before she slowly started to move away from him to stop any more screaming from taking place on her phone.

Taking the deepest breath she could possibly muster, she raised the phone to her ear. "Yes dad..." she began as she tried her hardest to keep herself under control while she spoke to her worst enemy. "Dad.. dad dad DAD! Stop it... stop it! You KNOW that Jason is out at the store opening for crying out loud!"

Feeling her frustration starting to grow in the pit of her stomach, she threw her one hand up in the air; hearing the screaming and shouting continue as he was still carrying on. She bit her lip hard after a moment when he apparently had said something that offended her. "No... you’re wrong on that. You’re WRONG. Stop it... stop it!"

Off to the side near the bench, Johnny was getting rather frustrated. He was wanting nothing more than to just go walk over, take the phone out of her hand.. and tell the sorry son of a motherless goat what for. A father had absolutely NO Right to be treating his daughter the way this prick treated her; none whatsoever.

Just as he was making up his mind, he stopped at the sound of his phone going off with a particular ring tone that he chose for his best friend. Picking it up, he turned his head to the side, his voice tight and stressed, "Hello?"

He felt a slight amount of relief as he heard the one person he wanted it to be on other end, the Scottish accent unmistakable, "'Ello..? Bannister, are you there...?"

Johnny shook his head, “You back in Angels Haven yet man?" he asked him as he sighed dejectedly. He didn’t want to go into an extreme amount of detail, but he knew that above anything- Jason needed to get his ass over where they were at and he needed to fast.

The voice on the other end instantly picked up on the distress in his best friend’s tone, "Yeah I am...what’s going on Bannister? You all right?" he asked, his mind instantly trying to register anything that could be wrong.

Johnny shook his head as he breathed in a shaky breath, "I'm fine... just trying to keep myself from getting insanely pissed off. I'm down here at the Lake with your sister... and the "sperm donor" you were referring to is in what looks like an insane cussing binge with her on her cell phone..." He muttered a slight curse word under his breath before he continued, "The son of a bitch has been on her case all day apparently; from what she told me."

There was a long silence on the other end of the phone, before Bannister blinked in surprise, hearing the change that took place within Jason's voice. "Thanks bro... hang tight I’m almost there."

"All right. See you in a few." he said as he flipped his phone closed. He then got up and turned his attention on Jaden, seeing she was indeed in a lot of stress.

The silent tears were flowing out of her eyes, as she was trying her hardest to keep her calm. "I was BUSY ... how many times do I have to tell you that I was WORKING and then went got food...?!" She reached her hand up as she covered her mouth to repress a scream as she swore profusely behind it, "Son of a..."

Johnny reached over and gave her shoulder a gentle squeeze of reassurance. He wanted her to know that she wasn't alone within this. He knew that he would be there for her, just as Jason had been. Something inside of him just... wanted to be the one who would be there to help this woman when her brother couldn’t.
Anyway, Jason was his best friend. And what else could he do then take care of his best friends twin...? To him, it would be sacrilegious if he didn’t take care of the Jewel.

After a moment, he saw a black shadowed vehicle pull up next to their cars with a screech. Straining his eyes to try and look, he noticed how the dark figure was sprinting towards their direction. But he didn’t have to strain too hard to know that the figure sprinting their way was the killer shark -- Jason Hosten ready to strike.

Letting go of Jade’s hand, he moved towards the figure approaching them as he motioned with his hand, "She's there..."

Jason nodded in gratitude as he went running over towards his twin sister. He was cursing himself for allowing the opportunity for their failure of a father to slip past their peripherals and attack Jaden when she was at her weakest.

Finally reaching her side, he slipped his hand around her body, reaching to take her phone out of her hand. He watched as she whipped her head around quickly, seeing him standing there next to her. The look in her eyes was enough to want to break his heart... or break their father’s legs. He shook his head, mouthing quietly Give me the phone...

Taking the phone out of her hands, he walked away from her towards the far side of the water fountain before he put the phone to his lips. "Put... Mom on the phone." he stopped as he heard what almost sounded like a mix of surprise and anger with their father on the other line, "I ...don’t CARE... put mom... on the phone... NOW." he hissed again, the venom that saturated his voice was enough to cut through the tension of the phone call with a knife.

This was the moment she knew to step back, and to let Jason handle things on the phone. Slowly allowing herself to back up from him, she found herself bumping into Johnny. She felt him rest one hand against her arm letting her silently know she was okay where she was.

“What the HELL were you thinking allowing that son of a bitch to keep making her cry like that? Cant you ever fucking see what this does to your own god damn daughter?” He stopped for a moment, before growling, the killer shark fully baring his invisible jagged fangs. “What?! Are you FUCKING kidding me?!”

The two of them watched Jason on the phone, the pure aura of anger just seemed to resonate off of him like a dark evil cloud, "Holy.....mother of God. I have NEVER seen him this pissed off." Johnny muttered out loud as the two of them kept their eye on him. This was one of the rarest of times did he ever see Goofball Hosten become such an angry human being.

Jaden leaned slightly against the bench for support as she kept her eyes on her twin. She felt the pain and anger flooding through her from him, as well as her own feelings clashing through her mind and her heart. "The darkness surrounds like a cloud of pain and anger that won’t dispel until the lightning is released..."

Johnny down at her over her shoulder with a slightly confused look, "I don’t quite get it..." he said honestly to her, before he looked over at Jason again.

Jaden shook her head, the tears still falling down her jaw line, "Never mind..." she muttered as she hiccupped. These moments when she was mentally and spiritually weakened was when she made the least sense.

As Jason “Killer Shark” Hosten was finishing up telling their mother off over the cell phone, It was at that exact moment he knew at that they wouldn’t be able to one hundred percent trust either one of their parents. The Sperm donor was a definite no, and now he was loosing lot of faith in their mother. Why? Because she just wanted to constantly ignore the problem.

”You know what? Fine… FINE. Just know I’m not going to fucking DEAL with this again. Next time he starts this shit? DON’T expect me to hold back.” He slammed the phone shut, and as he looked over towards Jade and his heart nearly shattered. Seeing her with that haunted expression within those dull hazel eyes of hers was too much for him to bear. With one smooth motion, he grabbed her, and pulled her into his arms.

He wanted to cry as well over the pain that Jewel was going through, but he knew he wouldn’t. He couldn’t; He had to be the strong one for his twin. She was the fragile one; the one whose soul had been broken over the constant destructive criticism of their family. He was the protector in her life, and by hell or high water... he would be there for her no matter what happened.

"I'm sorry Jewel...." he muttered against her forehead, his voice aching in frustration and sorrow as he ran his fingers through her hair to try and soothe her shaking body.”I'm sorry I wasn't able to stop that..."

She knew she felt so lost...but she hated the fact that Jason was feeling so torn up over not being here for her on it. She knew that no matter what happened that at some point shed have to try to fend for herself against the evil man that was their father.

She leaned back a little, before she wiped away a few tears from his eyes. "..I know..." she whispered to him, her voice a little unsteady as she tried to clear her throat, "...I know you're trying to do everything you can... but I cant help but feel guilty Jase. You've got so much you could be doing.. and I’m taking those chances away with this stupid bullshit..."

He shook his head, before he took her face gently within his strong fingers, the tips caressing through her hair as her chin fit neatly in his palms. "Everything I have... is right here.. Okay?" he whispered as his eyes stared straight into hers. "You're such a dummy..." he said in a gentle teasing, yet loving fashion.

She bit her lip hard, the tears beginning to fall quickly and anew down her face as her throat pushed out the sob that had built up in there. He right in a way... he knew that the connection between the two of them would be the one thing that kept them alive. She wrapped herself tightly up within his strong embrace, and allowed her moment to crack. She knew that with the crack that formed now, their connection would repair and heal that new wound; allowing the new scar to form.

Chapter Six [04 Feb 2009|09:00am]
Johnny approached the two of them as Jason held onto Jaden tightly with everything he had. "Look Bro, if you don’t feel like going back home, my folks aren’t home, so you're more then welcome to come crashing at my place." He smiled a tiny bit. "It'll be easier for your sister to get the sleep she needs, at least for tonight."

Jason thought about it for a long moment, before he tucked the strands of hair out from his sister’s face. She was still a bit physically shaken, but she seemed to be calming down a little bit as he held her. "Sounds fine to me... Jewel, do you want to go back to Grams or would you want a night away from there?"

His sister thought about it for a long moment, before she whispered something as she tried to wrap her jacket around her tighter. "Welcome silent darkness will be more appreciative then the screaming loudness of blood and turmoil...."

Johnny looked over at his best friend, a little confused at what Jaden had just said. Shaking his head he smiled slightly, "She's saying she'd rather be away from the house and sleep slightly peaceful then deal with it."

Shaking his head slightly, Johnny couldn't help but repress a grin that seemed to play across his features. "Your sister is definitely a rare jewel in the ruff Jase..." he said with a smile, before he moved his hand over to brush a few strands out of Jade’s eyes, "Not that its a bad thing at all." he finished his sentence a little more quietly as he turned around, beckoning with his hand. "C’mon, I’ll lead the way."

Jason kept his arm firmly wrapped around his sister’s shoulders as he let his fingers soothe her in small circular motions. He sighed, his head resting against her temple as he mumbled in a frustrated tone under his breath, "I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you Jewel..."

She took a deep breath before she spoke probably the first coherent thing she had said for the whole night. "You aren't to blame for this Jase..." she told him as she leaned her head against his shoulder.”Its not your fault our father is a real sithhead..."

Jason couldn't help but chuckle in a way at Jade's way of wording things. Granted, he was the one who knew a hell of a lot more then she did on Star Wars... she was more the Leia to his Luke. "Yeah, we always knew our father was a real Sith..." he turned her to face him, "You think you’re going to be okay enough to drive to Bannister’s?"

Taking a real deep breath, she thought about it for a long moment before she exhaled and shook her head no. "I don't want to get into an accident with how shaky I am." she told him as she held her hand up, proving by the tremors she had she was in no condition to drive all the way to the south area of Haven.

Nodding in understanding Jason turned towards the cars as he pulled out his phone, dialing his best friends. "Yeah it’s me. Go on ahead and we'll catch up. No we still are... I just want to take Jewel's car back to the house and we're driving over in mine. Yeah. Okay..." he snickered as he shook his head, "Definitely. Talk to you later."

Flipping his phone closed, he slipped his arm around his sisters waist as he kissed her temple. "C'mon, i'll follow you so you don't do anything reckless." he gently nudged her as they walked.

Smiling weakly but with a hint of sarcasm, she looked over at him, "I thought that was just you Monk."

He couldn't help but partially grin back as he muttered in their secret accents, "I can... I’m not real. So it’s nothing but bloody Sinister."

The two of them shared a laugh for a moment to ease a lot of the tension between them before he gently pushed his sister into her driver’s seat. Running then towards his car, the two of them started to drive off towards home.

* * *

It was already close to eight o'clock when they pulled up towards their house when they saw an all too familiar vehicle in their driveway… and Jade's heart froze. It was their parents SUV.

Hearing the familiar ring tone for her twin, she picked up and put it to her ear. "Yeah hon."

"Turn around and go park your car in the clubhouse parking lot." he said evenly as she turned around at the loop on the street they lived in and headed back in the opposite direction of the clubhouse. "We're just going to leave it there."

She couldn’t have thought of an elaborate plan herself. "I'm a fan of this... ok." she replied as she hung up the phone. Easing herself into an available parking space, she sat there for a moment as she tried to catch her breath. Seeing them was the LAST thing she wanted.

Noticing the lights of her brother’s car, she climbed out of her own, locked it with the automatic lock, and jumped into the mustang. As soon as she was safely in the vehicle, Jason half sped off down the road so that they could get as far away as they could.

Jason got to work at putting up his sun roof before he stared straight out to the open road as he drove. He had to find other things to keep his mind and fingers going instead of grasping the steering wheel for dear life. Seeing the vehicle just waiting for them at the house was enough to start bringing those livid, angry feelings back to the surface. Last thing he or Jade needed was to get into a verbal; or worse yet physical fight with their father.

Jade looked out of the corner of her eye at Jason's behavior; the wi-fi picking up so easily between them. Reaching her hand down, she slipped her fingers to entwine with his on the arm rest, squeezing it tightly to extract the "darkness" out of him and allow her "light" to filter through.

His hand unconsciously squeezed back, looking over at her out of the corner of his own eye as the two of them shared a silent quick conversation as he kept his main focus on the road.

The moment however was interrupted as Jason's cell phone started to ring from the Car holder. Reaching over to push the answer button, he put his hands back on the wheel. "Talk to me..."

Sasha's voice came out through the car's audio speakers as she replied, "Hey Hosten, its Sash... I wanted to let you know that apparently the asshole needs to have his manhood removed… he's pulling the crap with your sister again."

Jason looked over at Jaden as he squeezed her hand again, "A little late on the news Ace... but thanks. I've already snagged the Jewel and we're going over to my best friends to crash for the night."

"You've got her? Is she okay?" she asked as she threw out a million and one questions, her voice deadpan and serious. "That's it... I’m going to get a plane ticket and get my butt down there and kill him..."

Jason shook his head, "Don’t worry about it Roberts... I’ve got this ok? You know I cant let anything happen to my second in command." he then allowed his Monk voice to take over the conversation, "How else will the Hosten World Takeover continue without my second in command with me?"

Sasha couldn't help but snicker at the sound of that, "Hosten World Takeover? Maybe Jade could rule with a white light... but you? I highly doubt that." she said with a teasing air to her phone conversation.

Jason frowned a little as he then couldn't help but try to laugh as he was trying to figure out the best way to come up with a comeback, "You need to be… hit by a trolley."

Jade covered her mouth, stifling the laughter at their own inside joke that Sasha just seemed to not completely get as her voice came over the phone going, "Uhh... Hosten, don’t make me hit you."

"I'd like to see you try... I'm not real." he retorted right back, grinning at the chance to just royally annoy their good friend.

Before Sasha had a chance to get another few quips into the conversation, Jade spoke up quietly, "I'm ok Sash… We’ll give you a phone call in a day or so all right? His friend is calling us back wondering where we are."

"Oh all right if I must. Love you guys. Don’t forget that!"

"We love you too… talk to you later." Jade replied as she moved to hit the "end" button on the phone.

Jason looked over at his sister with a pleased grin as he raised his one eyebrow, "That was bloody sinister... even for you..." he squeezed her hand once.”I'm a fan."

She leaned back in her seat as she watched the night lights around them, "Well... One part of the Hosten World Takeover can't do it can they..?" she asked him as she then turned to look at him.

He smiled softly at his sister, "I couldn't do much of anything without you Jewel."

* * *

It was getting to be around ten o clock when Jason pulled his Mustang up to the driveway that was "Le Casa de Bannister". Putting the car in park, he stopped and looked over at his twin. "You sure you don’t mind this? I know you just sort of met Bannister, but trust me, he's a good guy."

He then made his "fake angry" look before continuing his statement, "and if he tries to put the moves on you at any time tonight, he knows I’ll just kick him in the balls."

Jade rolled her eyes as she smiled a bit before lightly tapping the side of her twins cheek. "Yes... I'll be fine with this. Besides, At least it wont be us trying to figure out what the heck we're going to do at home. That's the last place where we should really be..."

Jason's eyes started to darken just a little before he shook the anger right out of his mind. No need to get mad now Hosten... isn’t going to help Jewel any.. "Yeah, you’re right Jewel." he agreed as he stretched his arm over his head.

"Ugh I swear I was ready to deck the hell out of Fusaro at the Store opening... the stupid prick made a random comment about you from the last opening you went and I couldn’t help myself with wanting to draw out just a little bit of blood...maybe a nice elbow to the nose..." his sick twisted grin started to form as he thought of the idea.

Jade groaned out loud as she listened to Jason explain what had been bothering him, having sensed the underlying frustration that he had been hiding despite the situation with their parents. "THAT Idiot was there?!?! I swear to God they haven’t realized that he's been scamming money off the top of his own store? Corporate is SO damn dense. I mean, they're yelling at ME for being "too nice" around associates, and he's ripping them off right from under their nose!"

Jason easily noticed the frustration growing in her demeanor before he reached his hands over and cupped her chin between them. "Hey... hey, Jewel.. C’mon and look at Me." he soothed as he forced her gently to look up at him.

"I don't want you to even worry about that, you hear me? If I have anything to say about it Fusaro's going to rue the day he even tried to make any sort of insinuations against you.." he then felt his sadistic grin grow on his lips, "And maybe corporate my be tipped off a little about the money scamming...we still have our ace in the hole with Loss Prevention.."

Jewel bit her lip when he took her face in his hands before he gazed up at him. Looking into those eyes so similar to hers... she cursed him in a good way for being right. His gaze held hers strong and steady - which proved to her that he was being dead serious. She couldn't help but smile a little before she leaned her forehead up against his as their eyes closed together. "Damn you for being right..." she whispered teasingly as she chuckled gently.”But you're always right, so it’s ok..."

He grinned softly as he moved his head so he could kiss her forehead. "That's my girl..." he then touched her jaw line with his left hand to make her open her eyes, “And yes... it makes me just awesome. So we’re a fan of this."

She was about to respond to him on that when all of a sudden a familiar ring tone and a picture with the name 'Richard Hosten' flashed on Jason's phone. She looked down and felt a warm grin start to form on her features. "Well look at that oh fearless leader.. Your master is calling you." she teased.

Richard Hosten was the slightly younger brother to the "sperm donor" -- one of the only few of the Hosten name that they had no problem calling Family. Compared to their father? Richard was a complete 180. He was a person who had just as much of a twisted imagination as the twins did. This came in well with him being a part time best-selling author, and movie review critic for US Weekly. This was but a few of the many reasons why they both utterly adored their uncle Rick.

Jason grinned at the caller id before he put it back into the car adapter and hit the 'SEND' button. "Are you calling to admit your defeat old man?! I told you that the New Hosten Order will be taking command whether you like it or not! BWAHAHA."

The small but familiar chuckle came over the speaker phone resonated in the car as they heard their uncle speak up to them both, "You wish young padawan, there is still much more you need to learn." There was a quick few second pause before he spoke up seriously, "Lanie called me from her job and told me to give you a call. She ran into that Sasha Reynolds you both know and she explained something went on..."

Jason felt his smile fade as he breathed out a heavy sigh before he leaned back, reaching over to hold his sisters hand. "Yeah... the sperm donor's been a real asshole lately. He struck Jewel a few days ago and I got a little hot-headed and tore mom and him a new one on the phone after he caught her off guard and started cursing her out on the phone."

The tone of concern and a small hint of anger crept into his tone as he got a little demanding when he spoke again. "Is Jewel with you? Is she doing okay?"

Jade weakly smiled before she spoke up quietly, "I'm with him Uncle Rick. I’m all right."

"You sure Jewel? You better not be lying to me...you know we have ways of making you talk..." he elaborated to try and make her laugh just a little.

"Really Uncle Rick.. I'm ok for right now. I'm with Jase and we're spending the night at his friends house to stay away from them, they were waiting at Gram’s house." she tried to reassure him, the smile and roll of her eyes proving that his words were starting to crack in with him.

Rick almost let out what sounded slightly like a bit of a growl before he sighed in frustration, "I really wish I knew what the hell was going on through my brother’s head sometimes. I swear to God he doesn’t act like a single one of us at times."

Realizing another reason why he needed to call, the tone of his voice changed. "Oh! And since this kind of helps to go hand in hand with what has transpired, I have a bloody sinister severed head to share with two of my three favorite minions."

Jason cocked an eyebrow up in curiosity as they listened to what they're uncle just said, "Should we be scared or did you find another roommate for Sammy? Let me guess... Sierra from South of the Border?" he asked with a small grin growing on his lips.

"No, but close young padawan." Rick responded before he got serious. "Lanie got accepted to the University of Florida, so I've already bought a house just right outside of Angels Haven, so that we will all be down there for you both."

Jaden and Jason exchanged rather surprised, yet rather enlightened and ecstatic expression with each other. "Are you serious?!?!" the two of them exclaimed at the exact same time.

"Wi-fi." Jason interjected much to a rolled eye look and a light poke from his other half.

"I’m being serious. It's probably going to be a few more weeks, but it wont be too much longer then that. I would much rather be closer to my three favorite treasures of the world."

Jaden smiled a little more warmly at that as she shared the same look with her brother, "Are you sure you'll be able to do that Uncle Rick? What about your reviews for US?"

"You kidding? They're fine with me doing it from home in Florida. Not to mention Marjorie has her tabs on me wherever I am -- the harlot." he scoffed jokingly.

"Marjorie huh? You ended up with another agent huh old man?" Jason teased as he put on his Sean Connery accent, "I don’t know how you do that… That’s just so bloody sinister. I am such a fan of your wit and charm..."

Jade whispered under her breath, "Oh dear lord, its Connery vs. Walkin round..." she thought of it for a minute before grinning, "Oh heck with it."

And sure enough, Rick spoke up as Christopher Walkin impression, "Well, you know young man I just need to let you know.. you have much to learn... I’m just saying..."

The twins started laughing together with him on the phone just as Jade turned her head as the back door opened and Bannister piled into the car with them. "So what's going on here kiddies?" he said with a warm grin.

Jason looked in the rear view mirror before he grinned, "Bannister, say hello to my Uncle Richard Hosten. Old man, say hi to my Bud Jonathan Bannister."

Bannister looked over at his best friend as he mouthed Richard Hosten -- writer of "Trouble in Kiev" with that hot sounding detective Marla Hackett? When he got the grin and nod of response from Jason, he sat back with a look of incredible surprise and awe. This guy was one of his favorite Fiction writers of all time. The action mixed with the snark and sarcasm... just a perfect combination of epic awesome.

Rick's voice picked up over the phone, "Ah Bannister! Yes my young padawan has spoken much about you. Could you do me a favor and take care of these two for me? They're extremely valuable assets to my daily living and I need a set of eyes to keep tabs on them till I can get down to your current position."

Bannister grinned at the idea as he nodded his head in earnest, "You've got my word good sir… I will not let these two out of my sight for a moment."

"Good man. I will be forever in your debt for this." Rick said to Bannister before he then spoke again referring to the twins. "All right my two little minions; I will let you spend your time with your friend. Just steer clear till I get down there to help give a set of guarding eyes against the enemy. You hear me?"

Jason nodded, "Don’t worry about me old man, I can take care of myself, and I will make sure that I take care of the Jewel as well. You know I always will."

"I don't doubt that Killer, but you need to make sure you don't do anything stupid, you hear me?" he insinuated. "If anything happened to you, who would take care of the prized Jewel?"

Jason looked back at Bannister and caught his silent nod in agreement, "There's three people who would. Three including your elder nephew Gabriel who currently isn't present, he's shacking up with his new love interest."

"Hmm, I will have to interrogate him at a later date... mwahahha." he cackled a little but until then I will let you three go and cause as much mischief as you see fit. I love you both dearly."

"We love you too Uncle Rick. See you soon." Jason spoke up before he reached over and hit the "END" button on the phone Screen.

As the moment of content silence filled the car between the three young adults, Bannister all of a sudden broke the silence with a cry of surprise. "WHY DIDNT YOU TELL ME THAT RICHARD HOSTEN WAS YOUR UNCLE?!"

The twins began to chuckle a little as they started to climb out of the car. Jason gave him a playful slap over the head before throwing his arm over his best friends shoulder. "C’mon Bannister, lets go break out the chocolate chip cookie dough. Jewel needs her fix."
